Concept SsS was created for the 2009 edition of the Michelin Challenge Design contest, and it was selected for display among the 10 best projects at the NAIAS International Auto Show in Detroit in 2009 as a scale model.
The concept combines elements from the past with ultra-modern technology as the theme was to create the new icon for America.The car has classic muscle-car volumes: long hood, set back cabin position and fairly short tail. Muscular appear is enchanced with the V-shaped front, the hidden headlights behind the front grille, which only appear when lit, the two brake-cooler intakes below, and the air intake on the hood. The back is clear with two huge exhaust pipes.Under the hood is a new generation combustion engine wich burns pure hidrogen for maximum power output on the rear driven wheels. This way zero emission is reached, the steam exits through the big diameter exhaust pipes.The body has a dual-structure: the side and roof show the honeycomb-spaceframe carbon-fiber frame of the car. The liquid hidrogen fuel tank is housed over the rear axle. With the really strong one-piece frame a panorama-windscreen can be used since there is no need for A-pillars. The green areas are soft plastic panels which absorb energy at smaller impacts. The front bumper and hood intake are foam parts to reduce pedestrian injury at an accident. The tires use the air-less system which uses rubber ribs instead of air for softness. The rim has 30 spokes, at the end of every spoke there is an attach-point for two tyre-ribs. This way the rim and tyre form a complete system, which appear bigger diameter because there are only radial edges to catch the eye.Concept SsS unifies elements of the classic icons with newest technology thus showing the future of muscle cars.
Az SsS koncepció a 2009-es Michelin Challenge Design pályázatára készült, és a 10 legjobb projekt közé választották, így kiállításra került a 2009-es detroiti NAIAS Nemzetközi autókiállításon.
A koncepció a klasszikus amerikai izomautók elemeit egyesíti a legmodernebb techológiával, mivel a pályázat témája "Amerika új ikonja" volt.A koncepció megalkotásakor az izomautókat vettem alapul, és hogy a kapcsolat egyértelmű legyen, a forma ezen ikonok arányaira épül: hosszú orr-rész, hátratolt utaskabin, csapott hátsó szélvédő, és rövid far-rész. Emellett jellemző a nagy méret, és a nagy tengelytáv is.A forma egyéb részletei inkább modernek, mint például az ék alakú orr, vagy az „A” oszlop nélküli kialakítás. Stílusában a formaterv nagyon letisztult. Az orron alaphelyzetben csak a légbeömlők látszanak, a rejtett lámpa csak bekapcsolt állapotban tűnik elő. A lámpák formája ismétlődik a faron is, ahol ezen kívül a két hatalmas kipufogó dominál.Szerkezetileg a jövőt idézi az autó, a karosszériája két részből épül fel: a szénszálas elemek adják a térhálós kompozit vázat, és a kellő merevséget, míg a zöld panelek puha polimer panelek, amelyek ütközéskor elnyelik az energiát. Ezen felül az ék alakú orr egy nagyméretű energiaelnyelő hab-testet rejt, amely a gyalogosokat védi. Az autót egy robbanómotor hajtja, ám nem benzin üzemű, hanem folyékony hidrogént éget el, így zéró emisszió mellett nyújtja az izomautóktól elvárt teljesítményt. A gőz égéstermék a nagyméretű kipufogókon lehűlve távozik.A kerekek is a legmodernebb technológiát tükrözik: teljesen gondozásmentesek, mivel a felni fém részére csatlakoztatva radiálisan álló gumilamellák adják a futófelületen szükséges rugalmasságot és stabilitást.Az SsS koncepció egyesíti magában az amerikai ikonok múltját, míg formailag továbbfejlesztve és a legmodernebb technológiával társítva vetíti előre jövőjüket.
